MOON KING – DEBUT 7″ (Daps Records, October 2011)

the newly minted Daps Records’ first vinyl release will be the debut 7″ from Toronto’s Moon King, the duo of Daniel ‘Moon King’ Woodhead and Maddy Wilde. the pair cut their teeth touring internationally in the late 2000’s with the manic art-punk quartet Spiral Beach, and after a few years break, have returned with a new project that draws equally from the multi-part vocal harmonies of their youth, and their peers’ embrace of DIY electronics and punk.

Daniel is no stranger to collaboration; Moon King’s 7″ features contributions from his brother Airick (Doldrums) and backing vocals from prolific Edmonton songwriter Sean Nicholas Savage. he’s also been touring as a drummer with Montreal pop sensation Grimes, and collaborating with Hooded Fang’s Daniel Lee.

after debuting live earlier this summer with shows in Toronto and Brooklyn, and performing at the sold-out All Caps festival on the Toronto Islands, Moon King is touring in support of the 7″ release.
